    Summary
After 10 hours of sporadic use, the LCD blanked out. Sent unit into JVC-NJ repair center, at my cost. They replaced the module under the warranty.
The LCD worked for about another 10 hours and then blanked out again - just after the end of its one year warranty period. Now we simply consider it the most expensive paperweight we own.

    Summary
I wanted a beginner/mid-range digital camcorder to just play around with. I and I got what I wanted. I love this thing, its big, but its easy to use, I have had no problems with it, and besides sucking at shooting in low light or night, i have had no reservations. Great Camcorder, I just hope you can find it at such a good deal.

    Strengths
    inexpensive
    reliable (so far)
    easy to use
    fun as heck

    Weaknesses
the photo button can get in the way
cant shoot well in low light, and has no light

This camera is a wonderful camera. It is perfect size and weight and it has wonderful color and a clear picture. The operation of this camera is basically self explanitory.

    Strengths
vivid color and a very clear picture.

    Weaknesses
The one and off switch is very hard to operate, that is the only thing I didn't like about this camera.

    Summary
The horizontal lines (520) of resolution, and the price, are mainly what influenced my decision to purchase this camera. The image quality is superb with very little, if any, image cropping when the DIS is engaged. The IEEE1394 interface works flawlessly with Adobe Premier 6.0 making editing effortless. The only drawback to this camera is the tape mechanism, which requires loading from the bottom of the camera. Should you be taping a live event and the camera is on the tripod, you'll need to remove it to drop in a fresh tape. If you can live with this, it's a great camera. The features are confined to functionality and not fluff so, if you're looking for a camera that'll take the place of your editor, this one isn't for you. However, you will not need to purchase an additional encoder card to do those impressive dissolves - DV plays right from your computer editor through the camera A/V output WITHOUT THE WEAR ON THE TAPE MECHANISM! You can then dub the end products on whatever format you wish. The only extra I had to purchase was an IEEE1394 card for my computer. ADAPTEC makes a really nice one and it comes with the cable.

    Strengths
    520 lines of resolution
    IEEE1394 friendly (Adobe Primier 6.0)
    Good EIS (electronic image stabilization)

    Weaknesses
    Bottom loading tape mechanism

    Summary
The camcorder is small, which is convenient I suppose. However, the color is bottom of the line. My old VHS-C camcorder plays more vivid colors.

    Weaknesses
Color. No Crisp and bright colors. I am so surprised at the weak colors this camcorder produces.
