Summary
The SCW80 is a dependable product, I have had mine for over three years. NO LCD but the viewfinder is easily adjusted to compensate for vision limitations to read the settings listed in the display.
This unit comes with a host of onboard special effects functions including fade-out. It can be used in autmatic mode which is basically point and click-on and the zoom ability is exceptional for it's size.
You can connect it directly to your TV or Video Machine with it's RCA/Pin Adapter or S-Video connector (4 pin) but it will require a 'convertex' type unit in order to transfer digitally in a PC for editing.
Strengths
- Ease of use for the beginner using "Easy Mode", but with far more sophisticated functions available for the professional.
- Connects to TV/VCR with both RCA/Pin and S-Video cables.
- Automatic functions a three year old could be shown in minutes.
- Easily held and operated with one hand for automatic functions.
- Onboard special effects
- Vision adjustment on viewfinder
- Dependable and smart looking.
Weaknesses
- This model SCW80 does not have an LCD screen, but this increases battery time by about 50%.
- Analog unit so requires "covertex" type converter to run into a PC.
Customer Service
- Not had a problem requiring CS, but it was fast and painless to download a copy of the manual to my PC from the Samsung site. BTW: The Manual from their site is more detailed than the original packaged with the unit.
