Summary
Bottom line... stay far away from this camera! Video quality is average to poor, low light capability is far worse than other cameras, the audio is very poor (on-board mic is close to useless and no shoe for attaching external mic).
There was one case where I found this camera useful. It was shooting a stop-motion movie. The SCD55's close-up focusing was slightly better than a Sony TRV22 and the optics was "better" because the TRV22's lens hood causes a white cast/flaring when light is shined at it (stupid design on the TRV22's part). Even for shooting stop motion films this camera isn't good.
